Example

On your /Clients/ folder, set a rule: "Every new file should include company_name, contact_email, and industry in the frontmatter."

From that point on, when Claude creates a file in /Clients/, it adds the right frontmatter automatically. When it creates a file in /Clients/Acme/Projects/, it inherits the Clients-level rule plus any project-level rules.

Setting a rule

  1. Right-click any folder → Folder Rules. (Or click the gear in the folder header.)
  2. A two-tab panel opens: User rules (editable) and Factory rules (read-only, dimmed).
  3. Click Add rule. Write the rule in plain English.
  4. Save.

Let Claude write rules for you

In Cowork or Code with Marje connected, say "set up rules for my Clients folder." Claude proposes rules and you approve them before they save.
